ADVENTURE GAME 2


Adventure Game provided the opportunity to create a level using super grid and block mesh. For this level, the player was placed inside a graveyard. The player was then guided through a cemetery where the objective was to find clues to reach the sanctuary. The outcome of this project was how to use bock mesh to create a scene that was described to the students. This stimulated creativity as the class was given permission to design their levels based on the instructor's prerequisites.


Level Design

For this level, I was asked to incorporate all I had learned from my time at Full Sail University during my bachelor's degree, and I created a level with a team of five. We were each asked to develop individual levels to blend and create a story. For my level, I wanted to make an abandoned church with clear signs of dark practices on their property. I used many assets I had grabbed from the Unreal Marketplace to help complete my level and give it the dark atmosphere you see above in the example video. 

Mechanics and Features

I was asked to create not only a level but also a series of mechanics that would give our gameplay some individuality compared to our teammates. I made a treasure chest system, collectible objects, and a climbable surface that allowed players to reach higher portions of the map. Once players could collect all the collectibles and achieve everything they needed to in my level, they would then be able to advance to the following levels. 

Collectibles: These were not just items for players to gather but critical elements that enriched their gameplay experience. Each interaction with a collectible item was a step towards unraveling the storytelling pieces of this level, making the journey more immersive and rewarding. 

Treasure Chest: Players would interact with a series of chests that would open up when prompted to, revealing the contents inside of the object. 

Climbable Objects: Players could use certain ledges to climb from one part of a wall to the next to advance to higher portions of the level.
